Plumbase congratulates the winner of the WorldSkills London 2011 Plumbing and Heating contest, Shane Trevitt, from the UK, who beat 24 other competitors from around the world.  The majority of materials used in the plumbing and heating contest were supplied by Plumbase who were pleased to support this international event promoting the importance of skills in the workplace. A Plumbase regional meeting had an exhilarating high point, when the 16 colleagues reached the peak of Ben Nevis to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.  The managers and regional staff of  Plumbase North region, were attending a managers’ meeting, but when the official business was over, they donned their hiking boots to tackle the UK’s highest mountain. Plumbline West Highland Way Walk benefits children - 29/07/2011

A team of 15 Plumbline staff and suppliers has completed the 96-mile West Highland Way Walk to help a local school for children with special additional needs.  The group spent a week hiking the challenging route from Glasgow to Fort William, with the aim of raising £20,000. This ambitious total will be donated to Rutherglen High School in South Lanarkshire to assist in the running of their minibus and to help fund residential activities for the 87 children who attend the sch …

Plumbase Novices Sail To Victory In Polypipe Regatta - 18/07/2011

The Plumbase 2 boat, with a crew of novice sailors, has won this year’s Polypipe Regatta.  They beat 65 other contenders, including some highly experienced sailing teams. Scott Benfield, manager of the Plumbase branch in Portsmouth, and eight customers made up the crew.  Although Scott has sailed occasionally in the past, none of the other Plumbase team had any experience.  They were given a briefing earlier in the day, then ventured straight out on the water. …
